NOV - DEC 2013 & JAN - FEB - MARCH 2014
We begin Nov still at the
Theresa Creek Dam camp. We are on the second tank of fuel for the
outboard and all seems to be well. The yabbies are a little more active
or we may be getting better at placing the pots, we have only six.
A few days later and we have about 20 Pots, Seems that many of the
weekend visitors from the surrounding mining operations either forget
where they place their pots or just can't be bothered to pick them up.
And pretty soon we have more yabbies than we know what to do with,
we have tried them every way known to mankind and still enjoy the
experience.
It is beginning to get quite warm now and we are among the last
remaining campers. There have been goodbyes every day and many will be
back next year, we may be back ourselves.
Last days on the Dam.
The little tuppaware boat is ideal.
Only two of us left now 2 weeks ago it was standing room only
From our van back to boat ramp, very handy and now very quiet.
Finally it's our turn to pack up and head off to Moranbah for
Kales Birthday and then on to Cairns for Xmas with Lauren and
Ryder in the Goldsborough Valley, Kris, Ally and Kale will be there
as well.
Happy second Birthday Kale
Loves his books
Loves Grandma reading them to him

And of course dogs (the black one is Odey, rescued by Lauren from the shelter, now in a nice new home)
Dec has gone as has Jan, Feb
and most of March and we are still in Cairns, The skin Doctor has been
treating Blue and we have both been catching up with some dentistry
work. Blue had another stint of teaching in Townsville and has just
returned on the 19th March.
We will be heading for the tablelands on Sunday where we will spend a few days preparing for departure to points south.
I hope we can still remember how to put the annexe out.
Our spot at Mick and Maries, very comfortable and dry
Well it's happened again, 23rd
April and we are still on the tablelands at Mick and Maries beautiful
property located with an excellent view of the dam and close to Tolga,
Atherton, and Yungaburra. The
weather here is just magnificent, nothing like the heat and humidity on
the coast. We have been looking at the situation further south and
decided to stay here until the flooding and inclement conditions
pass. Cyclone Ita crossed the coast around Cooktown and passed to
the north east of us with no significant effects although we were
prepared for a more severe experience, again lucky.
A little rain from Ita more good than harm.
You can see the lake is quite close.
We are now planning to depart after Anzac day long weekend when the
roads will be quieter, the tires are pumped up, the vehicle is serviced
so we will make another attempt at leaving.
We've had a good look around the area and would be happy to return here
when the travelling is done. The climate is much cooler than Cairns
with much less humidity, the winters are quite cold but that would be a
trade off against the heat and humidity and not, we think, too
unpleasant.
