AUGUST 2013
We
leave Adelaide on Sun 28th July and head north,
the intention is to make for Cairns without exploring the regions along
the way because the weather is deteriorating in the south,we need
to get back for the wedding and the weather is really nice now up north.
First night we camped at Manner Hill just west of Broken Hill, next day
we went through Broken Hill, Wilcannia, Cobar and camped road side
between Cobar and Bourke.
Tues drove into Bourke and on to Cunnamulla, Charleville and Morven where we camped in the community sports grounds.
Wed drove on east to Roma and joined the Dawson Highway and north
to Rolleston, and Springsure where we again camped roadside.
Thursday drove on to Emerald, Charters Towers and Townsville
where we camped at the Blue water rest area just north of
Townsville.
Next Day, Frid 2nd Aug, on to Cairns where we set up in Lauren and Ryders back yard and we stayed until Aug 25th.
While in Cairns we caught up with our friends Linda and Baz whom you met while we were on the west coast. Baz
is having an operation on his shoulder and will be stuck in the region
for around 6 weeks, we hope all goes well and we can catch up on the
road again in future. They
have acquired a Hobie pedal kayak which we tried out at Palm cove where
they are staying. A good thing to carry while traveling for access to
dams, creeks and sheltered coastal waters. We are contemplating a small
boat of some sort and now deciding between a kayak and a fold up dingy.

Wendy has a birthday on the 18th and is spoiled at breakfast with
Ryders banana pancakes. We spent a good part of the day cooling off in
the river at Peets bridge near Lauren and Ryder's house.

Sun 25th we drive back to Townsville and stayed two nights at the Rose bay Caravan park .
Tues 27th we drive on to Moranbah setting up in Kris's yard and catch
up with Grandson Kale who is now almost Two. I don't think he remembers
our last visit but doesn't take grandma long to win him over again.
Preparations are well advanced for Kris and Ally's wedding and keeping everyone busy.
See you at the wedding in September.
