We arrived in Broome 5th Oct and found a van park just behind the sand dunes at Cable Beach.
There are still quite a few people in town but thinning quickly as its quite hot and the humidity is rising.
Many of the local shops and tours that cater to the tourists are closed or closing.
Broome is on a peninsula with Cable Beach to the west and the town
center near the eastern side which forms Roebuck Bay. Doesn't take long
to get anywhere and the airport is very close to the town center. We
are flying back to Cairns on 13th for 2 weeks, Blue has a teaching
commitment in Townsville for this time and we have made arrangements to
leave the van in the park.
Cable beach is unfortunately covered with brown jelly fish at the
moment, locals say its a normal occurance but normally later in the
year and not so many.

Here is the sunset on the west coast

And it wouldn't be cable beach without the camels.
We were taken with the Poo bags each animal is fitted with to avoid accidents on the beach

Back to Cairns and Blue to Townsville for two weeks teaching .
Blue had a small lesion on his wrist that looked innocent enough and
presumed it would take care of itself however it developed into a nasty
thing eventually diagnosed as a staphylococcus infection.
On return to Broome a visit to the doc resulted in admission to
hospital and antibiotic drip for 4hrs each day, such is life. The
WA health authorities are very sensitive to this and the treatment
management is directed from the infectious disease unit in Perth.
Wendy is stuck in the van park while Blue gets the TLC

Wendy has now taken to visiting at meal times and usually scores a tray.
It is a bit of a pain as looks like the treatment will take about 2
weeks but better to get it sorted out and perhaps Blue will take it
more seriously next time he gets a nick infected.
We are now into Nov and starting the month still in Broome and enjoying hospital food.
